At the Teatro Nacional in Casco Viejo:
The International Film Festival Panama

Inside the beautiful, old theater (that reminded me of Merrill Auditorium), we watched movies from all over the world with different and amazing stories. It cost $10 to see one movie, and we went three times in one week! First we watched Elefante Blanco, white-elephant, an Argentine film about the priests living and working in the Villa Maria slum of Buenos Aires. It was very well done, but incredibly emotional and intense. Next we watched a film by a local Panamanian director called Reinas, majesty, about the beauty queen culture of women in Panama (it was hilarious). Lastly, an Indian film called English Vinglish, english-vinglish, about a woman from India who visits her family in New York City and attempts to learn how to speak English. Again, hilarious but also touching.
